Better today

I really am feeling better today, probably because I am just getting saline and not chemo. I know that it is not supposed to last(my feeling good, that is) and in a few days, I should feel like crap. But it did not happen last time, so I am hopeful this time will not be so bad.

Food and smells really gross me out. There is some smell in our refrigerator right now that is really making me sick. Bob went and through out everything it could be and then I sprayed some Fabreeze in there. The combo of a stincky smell and Fabreeze is not good! I don't really have an appetitite, but I did have some of Mary Lou's great chicken soup so that should be healing. For some reason, I don't mind eating cheese toast either. Today, I am thinking I could handle French Fries and am trying to get myself syched up for the smell instead of being sickened by it. Syd is on the way to the clininic, and I have asked her to pick some up for me. I do need the potassium but who would think French Fries would be on your diet?

I gained about 8 lbs initially(last time my weight went up and down 17 pounds) on chemo this week but am down to a net gain of 1 pound - weight probablydown a little sooner than I should be, but I just could not eat this week. It should take me a few days to get back to normal weight, after all the fluid I am getting today. While I hated having to come in today, it will enable them to take the needles out of my port for a while, maybe till next chemo if I can stay healthly, and I won't have to have Home Health come out this weekend. You cannot imagine what a needle free weekend will be like! I would make a horrible drug addict. I am at the point when they do stick me I get bruises, so my arms look pretty beat up, since they never seem to be able to get blood out of my port. Good heavens, all I am doing is whining!

I know I am really lucky, and it could be a whole lot worse. After the fiasco of high fever of last week, I am due a good extra week, and I am going to do whatever I can to make sure I get one! We have a low key weekend coming up, no company no blood work. I am hoping to get some work done, finish our taxes and watch a lot on the DVR. And nap, a lot, and enjoy it! Hopefully Bob will get to nap too. He has had a couple of rough weeks as well -- working, shopping, cooking dinner each night (hey- welcome to my old world) and carting me and all my life support system stuff everywhere. He and I will both be thrilled when the rolls reverse again, and I am bitching about all I have to do! I am really going to owe him big time. So, I hope this weekend, he will get a lot of nap time in the recliner with his hand firmly grasping the remote control. Surely there is some Law & Order marathon on or I am stuck all weekend on the History Channel!

Hey Bob & Geri:
I really hope ya'll had a good restful, relaxing weekend. It's a shame that you have to have cancer to make you slow down. I know you have had more time than you ever will want to, just do some meditating and thinking. We all need that some time.

You really amaze me that you are so good about keeping us informed through your journal. And when you don't feel well, then Bob does it for you. What a guy!!

Who knows, you may write a book, and become famous, so don't forget me!!

Just know you are in our thoughts and prayers, and after all of this is over, you will probably never have a BAD day again ... comparatively.

Love you-
Michele
